Bookstagram Made Me Do It!

by Ashley Dickson-Ellison (@teachingtheapocalypse)

Bookstagram has brought me so many good things that have enriched my life... and six of them are the gorgeous books pictured above (along with the three pictured on my TBR list at the bottom...), and SO many other books! Honestly, though, it is hard to keep up with all of the books that come across my feed, and it is tough to pick and choose which ones should make their way to the top of my towering TBR stack. I've always been a mood reader, and while my TBR plans are much more rigid these days than they were in the past with many more external requirements and deadlines, moods still dictate a lot of what finally makes its way onto my tip top these-really-are-my-next-reads stack and into my hands.

On Wednesday, we're sharing an episode we did with Instagram's amazing @readwithtoni where we discuss the value of bookish communities and ways to plug into those communities. We've each personally benefited from the bookish communities in our lives (both in real life and online) and wanted to take some time to talk about those. Be on the lookout for that; you won't want to miss it! We'd love to know what Bookstagram has made you do and what bookish communities you're loving!

Here are the gems I mentioned above.

Lyssa K. Adams's The Bromance Book Club

Natalie Jenner's The Jane Austen Society

Min Jin Lee's Pachinko

Madeline Miller's The Song of Achilles

Margarita Montimore's Oona Out of Order - This was a Bookstagram audio rec, and it was great!

Silvia Moreno-Garcia's Gods of Jade and Shadow

Taylor Jenkins Reid's Daisy Jones and the Six - I loved the audio of this one-- it was recommended!

Lisa See's The Island of Sea Women - I did this on audio, and it was excellent! I would've also loved to read it in print.

Anna Solomon's The Book of V.

I picked up Daisy Jones because of Bookstagram and I AM SO GLAD!! I've picked up sooo many books thanks to Bookstagram. It's the reason my TBR will never stop growing (but I'm not mad about that!)
