Okay. I am here for some real talk. No, I mean it. Like, Real. Talk. If you aren't here for it, that is totally fine. Maybe skip this post. But, (I warned you.) here is some real talk from a mom, podcaster, teacher, wife, etc., etc., etc. And, spoiler alert, not all of this is bookish.
Things are tough. Some days (most days?) I want to crawl into a corner and cry and sleep until 2020 is over. (Seriously, is that an option?) But, I have two kids, a husband, a puppy, and a job, so crawling into a corner is not a viable option. So, I am here to bring you five things that are helping me cope right now.
Dr. Teal’s Foaming Bath with Pure Epsom Salt, Soothe & Sleep with Lavender - Did you just take a shower? Who cares? Take a bath with this Dr. Teal's magic. Seriously. Do it. Like, RIGHT NOW! I love this bubble bath. It combines the deliciousness of lavender with the functionality of epsom salt. It is so relaxing. Grab a glass of wine, your current read, and get to bathing. You won't be sorry.
Four Sigmatic Mushroom Tea. Yep. You read that right. This mushroom tea has been amazing for me. I first heard about theses The Million Pound Mission, alerted me to this tea—check out Episode 350 with Danielle Ryan Broida from Four Sigmatic. I am currently drinking the Chaga Elixir for Immunity (Because, who doesn't need that at the moment?) and the Reishi Elixir for sleep and calmness because I am a highly anxious and stressed person. The reishi tea helps me calm down before bed, and it really does make me sleepy. Note: The tea does not taste like mushrooms.
Dreaming Tree Cabernet Sauvignon - Okay. I know that is wine. And, I am certainly not advocating drinking to cope with our current situation. However, I love Dave Matthews, (#childofthe90s) and this wine is my absolute favorite red in the $10-$15 price range. Sometimes it is a Friday evening, and we need to decompress. Drinking this delicious wine—if it suits your lifestyle—can provide a nice, relaxing mood to the evening.
Annie F. Downs's 100 Days to Brave: Devotions for Unlocking Your Most Courageous Self - This devotional has helped me weather some significant storms. If you haven't checked out Annie F. Downs, definitely check her out. She has the That Sounds Fun Podcast, and she is the author of many books. One of my favorites is Remember God. It is raw, unflinching, and deeply personal. One of my most favorite faith-centered books.
The Million Pound Mission Podcast - Our friend Adam Schaeuble has this awesome podcast that offers tons of FREE advice on health and wellness. If you listen to the pod, you know that wellness and fitness is something that I really aspire to have. During the quarantine and life at home, I really, kind of, sunk into a depression and let myself go. Adam helped me find a passion for exercise and healthy eating again. He has paid coaching options, but also The Million Pound Mission Podcast offers TONS of free advice. Note: I did do a couple of rounds of paid coaching, but Adam has not incentivized me to talk about this AND he gives so much info for free on his podcast. So, if you are interested, please check it out.
